United States: Both former President Trump and President Biden appeared to be sending the message last Sunday.
As soon as Joe Biden ended a speech on the attack on Trump the day before, Trump ‘UNITE AMERICA!’ appeared on his Truth Social, as reported by The Hills.
Rally Shooting in Pennsylvania
On Saturday evening, a gunman opened fire at a Donald Trump campaign rally in the state of Pennsylvania. The former president was relieved to tell the nation that a bullet went through his ear; apart from that, he suffered minor injuries. The FBI has named the shooter as a 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks, who hails from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, and shot at the rallygoers from a rooftop.
During his Sunday statement, Biden said that he has already launched an impartial assessment of the security system. He also once more denounced the attempt on the president’s life.
“It’s not who we are as a nation. It’s not America, and we cannot allow this to happen,” he said.
Trump’s Call for Unity
This message of unity was posted by the former president three minutes after the remarks ended at 2:11 pm on Truth Social. He made a similar statement hours before.
“At this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united and show our true character as Americans, remaining strong and determined and not allowing evil to win,” Trump wrote. “I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.”
Looking Ahead
Trump wrote on Truth Social at 2:09 p.m. that, although he had thought of skipping the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, he would head there as planned. The convention will go on unabated and commence on Monday, as reported by The Hills.
