Anyone else confused by the hero worship over John Lewis, the now dead politician who led a sit-in to try to defend the idea of removing people’s access to guns based on no-fly list and terrorist watchlist? As I recall, this happened back when Republicans in Congress had a spine on such issues (if there were such a sit-in in Congress today I’m not sure how Congress would deal with it – probably pretty much anything can get passed by House Democrats, but will get stopped by a Republican Senate for now).
John Lewis’s great legacy in leading the sit-in was to take Soviet-style lists known to have positive name matches that would flag babies and Marines (highlighting the problems of such lists and leading to a court designating at least one such list as wholly unconstitutional by September 2019), and to promote the idea of their use to deprive all Americans of due process, the right to travel and freely engage in Commerce under the Commerce Clause, and of course, their right to keep and bear arms.
Fortunately, the Democrats’ whining and screaming and sitting in lead by John Lewis himself did nothing, as the watchlist proposal to deny people access to arms based on these ever expanding lists did not pass Congress.
Now as gun ownership and new first time gun owners are approaching an all time high, it should be more evident than ever how ridiculous and foolish this blowhard John Lewis was and why his passing is hardly worth noting except perhaps to merit a sigh of relief that Congress might be less likely to be plagued with circus antics by nut job politicians who think sit-ins to promote rights removal should be a thing.
Just Say No to Democratic Socialists in 2020 – vote Republican all the way down the ballot. Thanks for reading.
