With the emergence of Michael Bloomberg into the presidential race, one thing becomes increasingly clear: This is now Gun Election 2020. As the candidates attempt to separate themselves from the pack, arguably the most prominent issue is gun control. Since the last debate, Bloomberg, Joe Biden and even Bernie Sanders seemingly keep trying to outdo the other. Each repeatedly ups the ante in how far they will circumvent the U.S. Constitution for political gain.
Biden Attacks Gun Companies
Only recently, Sen. Amy Klobuchar claimed gun buy backs didn’t constitute confiscation. Then Sanders, a one-time supporter of gun rights, spouted he now wanted an assault weapon ban. Now Joe Biden becomes the latest, using a CNN town hall to push his gun control narrative.
“A guy has 12 assault weapons with bump stocks, which means you can fire it faster. You can pull the trigger faster,” Biden said, referring to the 2017 Mandalay Bay shooting. “And 100 rounds. Why in God’s name should anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone be able to own that? It’s just wrong, and we’ve got to — and I promise you, as president, I am going to get these guys.
“I want to let them know. I promise you. I’m the only guy that has beaten the gun manufacturers — I’m the only guy that has beaten the NRA nationally, and I did it twice, nationally. And gun manufacturers, I’m coming for you. Period.”
Biden then used his stance on gun control to attack Sanders while meeting with Moms Demand Action. There he let the anti-gun crowd know that Sanders, no friend of guns now, voted against the Brady Bill five times decades ago.
“Too many Republicans and some Democrats, like Bernie Sanders, voted five times against the Brady bill that I was passing,” Biden said, reported foxnews.com. “Five times against background checks and waiting periods.”
The message from each candidate is clear. From contenders Biden and Sanders, to the radical Bloomberg, the Democratic nomination will center around gun control. Biden claiming he’s coming for gun companies is merely the latest example.
