Trump and DeSantis Seek Reconciliation in Private Meeting

President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

United States – A private meeting took place between former president Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis this weekend, as reported by three people familiar with the discussion, marking the souring of relations between the former rivals who clashed during the brutal primary contest involving a high number of insults and bruised egos.

Burying the Hatchet for Joint Fundraising

The meeting, which lasted for three hours, was held in order for the men to think about how to bury the hatchet and to look for possible joint fundraising. A person who attended it and who insisted on remaining anonymous as a way to share the details of the private get-together told this. The governor makes this statement, and at the end of the conversation, he commits to working him up as he prepares for the battle with President Joe Biden in the general election, as reported by The Associated Press.

According to The Washington Post’s news story, Steve Witkoff, a Florida real estate investor with connections to these two leaders, coordinated the meeting.

Witkoff did not reply to a demand for comment that the link was sent through his office.

DeSantis Commits to Supporting Trump

De Santis is a strong strategist with a big group of contributors from his races for governor and president. He thought he endorsed Trump after dropping his bid for the GOP nomination in a video, and he failed to gain traction; he was not yet involved in Trump’s campaign or fundraising process, as reported by The Associated Press.

History of Friction

The GOP primary attracted a bitter rivalry between the two men who had once been friends. Trump insulted DeSantis as disloyal and nicknamed him “Ron DeSanctimonious,” while DeSantis brought to people’s attention that his opponent might still lose in November.
